Could you feel comfortable dating someone that just cleaned out your monthly budget in an online poker tournament? Or would you prefer a warm body that you just bankrupted in a recent cash game? Who knows, they may insist that dinners on you, lol.

Does the couple get married in a Poker bar somewhere in Fiji or Nevada ( the latter is a great place to get married just ask Britney and countless others ), spend their evenings playing poker online, afternoons communicating on skype, a chinese dinner in between then back to the poker tables? I just can’t imagine.

Still confused at how a poker date might change your fortunes and make your wallet heavier? Well, you are not alone. I mentioned this at a party once and got nothing from blank stares. Yeah, those uppity Hollywood types have no sense of humor. In short, If you are not the weakest player at the Pker table, can you make money? Maybe, but how do you find a poker date?

There are few strategies that will help you to achieve this. You can use software that accesses player profiles based on their current betting patterns. One way is to get a subscription to tune into large collections of poker room players profiles, the other is to collect the data yourself and using poker data mining software. There are even some free websites like tableratings.com that help you with sitting down at poker tables that are more profitable then others. One thing that is important is to take down sufficient notes on other online poker players you are playing against. Poker sites usually have a very basic poker buddy lists that comes with their online poker room software. However it is way smarter to use a more professional poker buddy program. Those lets you add weak players from different sites to one central buddy list and hunt them down at the tables they are currently playing. Poker Buddy from Poker Pro Labs for example does that.

If you have taken your tracking seriously, then you would rather die than be without tools such as Poker Tracker. This tool can gather hand histories for redisplay over top an actual player in a live poker room. You will still need yet another tool for actually displaying the data in real time, but in the past, dating was never so much fun.

A Poker date then, isn’t someone that you necessarily like or want to take to dinner and the movies. If you are serious about making money while playing poker, identify weaker players who appear to play with larger amounts of money and add them to your buddy list.
